01 · Why it matters

Why writing guaraníes correctly matters

In Paraguay, a badly written amount in words can block a check, trigger a SET observation or void a contract clause. The amount in words prevails over the figure.

Three areas concentrate the risk:

  • Bank checks: figure and words must match. Since the guaraní is whole, there is no centavos fraction.
  • SET invoices (Marangatu): the amount in words backs the figure; the system requires whole figures.
  • Contracts & legal documents: the amount in words gives certainty to the economic clause.

This converter automates the three formats, applies RAE rules and respects that the guaraní is a whole-number currency (no centavos).

02 · Exclusive knowledge

The guaraní has no centavos

Unlike almost every Spanish-speaking currency, the guaraní is a whole-number currency. Knowing this avoids format errors.

Whole currency
₲ 400.000.000
no decimals · no "con XX/100"
✓ Correct · whole

Cuatrocientos millones de guaraníes

No centavos fraction.

✗ Wrong · with centavos

… con 50 céntimos

The guaraní has no subunit.

In practice: our converter ignores any decimal you type and always produces a whole amount, as the guaraní and the SET's Marangatu system require.
